Presbyterian Aged Care’s ‘The Terraces Paddington’ retirement village has won 2 prestigious awards at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW Awards for Excellence 2020.
The Awards recognise and reward excellence and innovation in the urban development industry.
Presbyterian Aged Care and Cottee Parker Architects took out the Award for Excellence in Retirement Living for The Terraces and the project also won the prestigious President’s Award.
The highly coveted UDIA NSW President’s Award is an honour bestowed on the best project from all the Award winners on the night. The Institute’s President personally selects this ‘best-of-the-best’ project based on its superior innovation and quality.
“We are absolutely delighted to have received these 2 awards, shared with Cottee Parker Architects,” said Paul Sadler, PAC CEO. “The accolades solidify The Terraces as a landmark Australian retirement village recognised as a beacon of creative design.”
“The Terraces was a bold and ambitious project from the outset. It is very rewarding to have created an over 55’s community that ranks as one of Australia’s most admired,” he added.

The Terraces retirement village comprises 70 independent living apartments across four buildings and the adaptive conversion of the heritage-listed Scottish Hospital into 9 house-size retirement apartments. The complex also features a cinema, swimming pool, gym, landscaped parks and gardens and an on-site café.
The retirement village is part of a $180 million over-55’s community set on 1.5 hectares with a 100-bed residential aged care home also located on-site.
